Before your appointment

• Fill in your document completely
• Do not sign it yet
• Have everything ready before the video call starts, including ensuring the facility to blur the background and/or utilise virtual backgrounds are turned off, as they will interfere with the identification and viewing process for this meeting.

What happens during and after the call

The entire process must be completed on the same day. Using a statutory declaration as an example:

You (on the video call):

1. Sign and date the bottom of all pages except the last
2. Sign and date the final page
3. Read the declaration out loud when prompted by the JP
4. Sign and date any attachments
5. Email the signed document (and any attachments) to the JP

The JP then:

1. Signs the document and any attachments
2. Adds a note confirming it was witnessed via video call
3. Emails the completed document back to you

Your document is then legally complete.
